Copper Canyon Railway

The Copper Canyon (Barranca del Cobre) offers a great scenic landscape, and the train journey through the Sierra Tarahumara, one of the most impressive mountains in the Sierra Madre with its many different microclimates, is undoubtedly one of the most exciting and spectacular train excursions in Mexico.

Passengers are taken from Los Mochis at sea level up to the Sierra Madre which is almost 8000 ft (2400 meters) above sea level, and then descend to the city of Chihuahua.

The train makes several stops, allowing passengers to explore canyons and towns along the way. This train trip offers breath-taking views. If you are not in a hurry try to spend at least one night in this fantastic scenery, or take more time for some hiking, horseback riding, mountain biking and excursions to some of the Tarahumara Indian villages.
