Copper Canyon Railway
The Copper Canyon (Barranca del Cobre) offers a great scenic
landscape, and the train journey through the Sierra Tarahumara,
one of the most impressive mountains in the Sierra Madre with its
many different microclimates, is undoubtedly one of the most exciting
and spectacular train excursions in Mexico.
Passengers are taken from Los Mochis at sea level up to the Sierra
Madre which is almost 8000 ft (2400 meters) above sea level, and
then descend to the city of Chihuahua.
The train makes several stops, allowing passengers to explore canyons
and towns along the way. This train trip offers breath-taking views.
If you are not in a hurry try to spend at least one night in this
fantastic scenery, or take more time for some hiking, horseback
riding, mountain biking and excursions to some of the Tarahumara
Indian villages.
Expreso Maya
The Expreso Maya is a deluxe train connecting Villahermosa
in the Tabasco state to Cancun on the Mayan Riviera. It offers many
different excursions to the archaeological sites of Palenque, Uxmal
and Chichen Itza, and to the cities of Campeche, Merida, and Izamal.
The train has four passenger carriages with 64 seats, each and
decorated in a Mayan theme, a club-bar, cafeteria, dining room and
library. On board gourmet dinners and entertainment.
Tequila Express
The Tequila Express Train leaves every weekend from Guadalajara,
offering a pleasant two-hour ride through the hills of Jalisco to
the city of Tequila. The landscape is dominated by vast plantations
of maguey (agave) from which the famous liquor is distilled.
Needless to say, you are guaranteed an unlimited supply of margaritas
and the like on board, where entertainment is provided by a Mariachi
band. On your arrival in the city there are demonstrations of tequila
making, followed by a visit to the Tequila museum and then on to
some distilleries located in haciendas in the countryside.
Buffet with typical food, drinks and mariachi will keep you entertained
until sunset, when you will return to the train for more drinks,
singing and dancing on your journey back to Guadalajara.

coast and the Baja California peninsula from Guaymas, Topolobampo
and Mazatlan to La Paz and Santa Rosalia.
