    Itinerary

    Day 1:
Arrival in Oaxaca and transfer to Rancho Buena Vista.
Visit to the archaeological area of Monte Alban, the capital of the Zapotecs for over 1000 years. Monte Alban was both an inhabited city and a ceremonial centre, and the well preserved ruins will give you a good idea of the complex original structure of this important pre-columbian city.
After lunch, you will visit some craft villages in the surrounding valleys, where you can see handcraft masters showing their techniques in weaving, green and black pottery, and wood carving and painting.
Return to the Rancho for dinner.

Day 2: Free excursion with sport activities in the surrounding area. You can choose between:
    - Rock climbing in San Sebastian Tutla, Yagul, or Santiago Apoala, with routes from difficulty level from 5.7 to 5.12. You will be accompanied by a professional guide.
    - Mountain biking in the Northern Sierra, or in the Central Valleys with several routes, from short to long distances and providing good fun for all levels.
    - Mountain climbing on the Sierra and surrounding. You will be accompanied by expert guides and offered professional equipment.
Return to the Rancho for dinner.

Day 3: After breakfast you will leave the ranch for a trip to the Natural Springs of Salina Blanca.
The name comes from the salted water underground streams which have been running down steep slopes for hundreds of thousands of years forming beautiful salt waterfalls.
You can see these formations of stalagmites and stalactites from the banks of the river Quiechapa, surrounded by the dry tropical forest typical of this area. In the summer the landscape is semi-desert and during the rainfall season the vegetation is lush and green.
The charm of this natural park is due to its wilderness and remoteness from the inhabited areas, and to the spectacular colour contrast between the white of the salt-rock waterfalls and the turquoise of the river.
Return to the Rancho for dinner.

Day 4: After breakfast visit to one of the traditional village markets (Tlacolula, Zaachila, Ocotlan... depending on market day)
These weekly markets are typical of regions with large Indian populations. They are the one day a week when Indians come to town to buy and sell.
You can buy almost everything there, from live chickens to fine handcraft.
The day will end in Oaxaca with a Mexican cooking class or another activity of your choice.

You can extend your stay at the Rancho and add some extra daily activities.
