    Tours to archaeological areas
Visit the stunning site of Monte Alban, with the ruins of the city which was the Zapotecs capital for over 1000 years. Monte Alban was both an inhabited city and a ceremonial centre, and the well preserved ruins will give you a good idea of the complex original structure of this important pre-columbian city.

Trip to the Natural Springs of Salina Blanca
The name comes from the salted water underground streams which have been running down steep slopes for hundreds of thousands of years forming beautiful salt waterfalls.
You can see these formations of stalagmites and stalactites from the banks of the river Quiechapa, surrounded by the dry tropical forest typical of this area. In the summer the landscape is semi-desert and during the rainfall season the vegetation is lush and green.
The charm of this natural park is due to its wilderness and remoteness from the inhabited areas, and to the spectacular colour contrast between the white of the salt-rock waterfalls and the turquoise of the river.
In the park you can practise several activities like rappel (climbing) and hiking, or have a refreshing swim in the river.

    Rock climbing
Excursions in San Sebastian Tutla, Yagul, or Santiago Apoala, with routes from difficulty level from 5.7 to 5.12.
You will be accompanied by a professional guide.

    Mountain biking
Routes in the Northern Sierra, or in the Central Valleys with several options, from short to long distances and providing good fun for all levels.

    Mountain climbing
Expeditions on the Sierra and surrounding. You will be accompanied by expert guides and offered professional equipment.

    Oaxaca crafts
Tours to craft villages in the oaxacan central valleys, where you can see handcraft masters showing their techniques and explaining their family traditions. Every village is specialized in a particular art tradition, and there are dozens scattered in the areas. The most famous are Teotitlan and Santa Ana del Valle for weaving, Aztompa and San Bartolo Coyotepec for green and black pottery, and San Antonio Arrazola for wood carving and painting.

    Village markets
Trips to the traditional village markets of Tlacolula, Zaachila, Ocotlan... depending on market day
These weekly markets are typical of regions with large Indian populations. They are the one day a week when Indians come to town to buy and sell.
You can buy almost everything there, from live chickens to fine handcraft.

    Oaxacan Cooking classes
Learn how to prepare the traditional dishes of this incredibly labor intensive cuisine. Mole sauces, pozoles, and other spicy dishes made this cooking famous worldwide. The basic ingredients: corn, chocolate, tomatoes, and the incredible varieties of chilies (peppers) and spices. It will be an opportunity for refining your cooking skills and for approaching the complex region's culture from a different point of view.

All these activities can be combined together to form a small tour with accommodation. As an example, you can check the Discover Oaxaca or the Oaxaca Adventure packages.
