2 days 1 night camping, trekking and rappel tour in Tamaulipas.
The Vapor y Desierto (steam and desert) adventure combines 2 different experiences: El Salto (The Jump), a 1.5 km wide canyon with a stunning waterfall, and the Temazcal (Mesoamerican steam bath), used by pre-Hispanic cultures to purify body and soul.

El Salto (The Jump) is a beautiful canyon with 90 meters (300 feet) high rock walls and a stunning waterfall generated by the turquoise waters of the river running at its bottom.

The canyon is located in a semi-desert area in the Tamaulipas state, about 75 minutes from Ciudad Victoria, where you can admire different species of giant cactus (Bisnagas Gigantes), and also home to the Military Macaw Sanctuary.

Here you can enjoy a great adventure trip with some trekking, rock and waterfall rappeling, nature and bird watching, and you can also go for a refreshing dip and a swim in the river's crystal blue waters.
You do not need any previous experience in rappel, as this is a safe and not too difficult climb; and you will be accompanied by certified expert guides.

The second part of the trip will take you to the biggest Temazcal in Latin America. This ancient purification rite, guided by a Xaman (witch doctor or guide), was used both for healing and ceremonial purposes. The properties of fire and water were used combined to purify the mind, body, and soul.

The main difference from the modern steam bath, is that in the Temazcal not just water, but an infusion of medical herbs is poured on stones previously heated on the open fire. The steam is directed with some leafy branches by the Xaman, who can perform different practices like massages, hydro and aroma therapy, and meditation exercises.

Accommodation will be in big tents for 2-3 people with queen-size inflatable mattress. There will be a big dining-tent with equipped kitchen, table and chairs

Minimum participants: 6 people.

What to bring: sleeping bag, trainers or trekking shoes, biological toiletries, and sun screen.
Take also some warm clothes, as the night in the desert can be chilly (min temperature about 5 degree Celsius) and a swim suit.

An additional trip to the mountain tops can be added to this tour upon request.
That will include an extra night in log cabins in the middle of a virgin pine forest, for those who are looking for a true anti stress escape.
