Weekly Spanish courses in Chacala, Nayarit (near Puerto Vallarta)
Teachers at Mar de Jade have been providing Spanish language studies for 15 years, cultivating an interesting, peaceful and refreshing atmosphere for learning about Mexico, its people and its musical language.
This vacation-retreat center is located on a stunning beach on Mexico's Pacific Coast, an hour and a half north of Puerto Vallarta.
In a setting of great natural beauty and serenity, Mar de Jade was created in 1983 in the spirit of active community service, and gratitude for the natural environment.
Teachers are native speakers and can quickly and firmly ground you with a good knowledge of the basic grammar of Spanish and help you develop speaking and comprehension skills that will enable you to begin using the language immediately.
The courses, offered throughout the year, are designed for adults (14 years old and older) at beginner and intermediate levels. All classes begin on Mondays and the minimum duration is one week. Private tutoring is available for advanced students and others who wish to work on their Spanish more intensively.
Beginners will find it most effective to start classes on the first day of a 3-week session (please ask for schedules), or make arrangements to review the material before arriving at Mar de Jade. Intermediates and advanced students may join ongoing classes at the beginning of any week.
Workbooks are required during the course with verb cards (optional) containing the one hundred most common Spanish verbs conjugated in all tenses with mnemonic tips to help you remember them.
While staying at Mar de Jade and studying Spanish you can enjoy many tours and activities they organize, or practice water sports. You can also participate to a volunteering program, as a percentage of Mar de Jade's income and staff time is dedicated to supporting projects they have founded themselves: a primary-care community clinic, a legal-aid project, a scholarship fund for young people, and an emergency fund for families in distress.
