    Here is a list of what you can do at Mar de Jade:

    - Hiking excursions to various destinations such as an extinct volcano crater, the rim of which overlooks Mar de Jade.

    - Whale watching excursions are organized from December through March by a local boating cooperative, whose members know the best places to view these spectacular creatures along their migration path.

    - Horseback riding trips take guests through tropical forests and mountains to nearby beaches. Half-day and day-long trips by horseback are offered year-round by a local guide at reasonable rates. Guides can also take you to special rodeo events in nearby farming towns.

    - Bird & wildlife tours to the famous wildlife refuge area of San Blas. The open boat ride up the mangrove estuary offers kingfishers, egrets, herons and a view of the Mexican endemic boat-billed heron, plus crocodiles, iguanas and a multitude of other native tropical animals and plants.

    - Visits to pre-Columbian petroglyphs - scattered throughout the area - including several on the hillside behind Mar de Jade and a large number in Alta Vista, the ancestral religious site of the Huicholes, about an hour away.

    - Swimming and water sports are a part of the daily rhythm of life at Mar de Jade. Chacala Beach deepens gradually and is delightful and safe for wading, swimming and boogy-boarding for those who bring their boards. Within hiking distance is Playa de las Cuevas. A bit further, usually reached by boat or horseback, is Playa del Naranjo.

    - Snorkeling trips to the island off the beach of Guayabitos. This location is great for viewing beautiful species of fish and amazing invertebrates. Bring your own snorkeling equipment to enjoy this trip.

    - Boat trips can be arranged with a local tourist boating cooperative with the help of Mar de Jade. These trips are a wonderful way to visit other beaches and to see the beautiful rugged coastline.

    - Surfers will be delighted to discover La Caleta, 15 minutes (accessible by boat) from Mar de Jade. This point break offers fun for intermediate to advanced surfers.

    At Mar de Jade you can also learn Spanish, or practice yoga or even participate to a volunteering program
