Spanish Classes and cultural activities around the Patzcuaro Lake, Michoacan
CELEP offers Spanish Language courses in a very enjoyable environment, mixing classes with fun and interesting cultural activities in the Patzcuaro area.
At The Center for Language and Ecotours of Patzcuaro (CELEP) they believe learning a language in its cultural setting has a synergistic effect.
You can join a variety of courses, either private tuition or group classes with a maximum of six students, and you will be moving from the classroom to the top of a pyramid, from learning verbs to learning how to make tortillas. Other activities might include visiting a woodcarver's workshop, or participating to a village fiesta.
These cultural experiences are designed to build on your class work, giving you an opportunity to use your newly acquired language skills.
Volunteer opportunities are also available.
The most popular course is a two-week Spanish Immersion Program (SIP) for beginner, intermediate or advanced students, which includes 4 hours of language instruction daily, Monday thru Friday. You can also upgrade to a SIP Plus program that also includes 6 different tours/group activities over 2 weeks.
Accommodation can be provided in Homestay with Patzcuaro residents, or at the Eco-Hotel Patzcuaro.
CELEP is a non-profit organization whose earnings fund projects of the Center for Social and Ecological Studies (CESE).
Since 1983, CESE has been promoting rural projects in education and environmental conservation in the Lake Patzcuaro area.
Nestled amongst rolling hills, tranquil lakes, dormant volcanoes and Indian Villages in the Central Highlands of the state of Michoacan, Patzcuaro is about 45 minutes
