Spanish Language and Cultural programs in charming Guanajuato
A cultural full immersion thanks to small group and/or private classes programs, extra activities, excursions and some (optional) volunteering in local community projects.

One of the key principles of immersion education is that linguistic and cultural knowledge is a resource: the more you know, the better off you are. You can take advantage of a total language immersion at Escuela Mexicana in Guanajuato, one of the most beautiful Mexico's colonial cities.

Guanajuato is a vibrant, safe city with lovely stone buildings and cathedrals, broad plazas and well-manicured gardens. It is part of the World Heritage List, its people are very friendly and the climate is almost perfect year round. It is a city made for walking, with all major destinations being within 25 minutes walking distance. Escuela Mexicana is located only two minutes walking from the downtown plaza and classes are held in a colonial building.

Teachers have a university degree in philosophy, language and literature, and have a minimum of 3 years teaching experience. You will have written and oral introductory exams to ensure optimal class placement, and you will be able to enjoy the school programs in total flexibility.

You can start any Monday throughout the year, and you can take as many classes as you like, changing, adding or dropping classes weekly. There are specific classes for each level, from basic to advanced, integrating grammar, vocabulary, and use of the language to express personal opinions in contexts such as Literature, History, Politics, Culture... A great variety if material will be used, such as videos, newspapers, music, and recorded radio and Tv programs.

Together with the Standard Spanish Language Program there are also an Intensive Spanish for Travelers (1-2 weeks program focused on survival skills), a Plus Program (3 weeks intensive language and cultural immersion with 5 hours of private instruction per day), and a Trimester Program (for students who are looking for long term instruction in Guanajuato at a very convenient price). A Children's program is also available year round.
Each class has a maximum of five students, and private classes are also available.
Students have free Wireless Internet access.

Extracurricular activities: A weekly gathering called 'Intercambio' allows students to practice Spanish with local Spanish speakers in an informal social setting. There are also free movie nights, followed by discussions with instructors and fellow students, free table games, free guided city tours, and guided trips to cultural activities such as concerts and local events.

Accommodation: Escuela Mexicana can provide you with cheap accommodation either with a Mexican family or at Casa Mexicana Rooms and Apts

Volunteering opportunities: Immersion into a new culture is not comprehensive without a social context. Escuela Mexicana helps in various community projects, like teaching English to kids from low income families, helping at a Home for the Elderly, supplying an orphanage in Salamanca with school material and food, and helping kids at a home for battered women.
