Sierra de la Laguna Adventure

  • 2-4 days camping tour in Sierra de la Laguna, Baja California Sur
This unique trip through the majestic Sierra de la Laguna is a great adventure for avid walkers, who want to concentrate on their hiking and also enjoy some comforts along the way.

Sierra de la Laguna is one of Baja's most stunning but least explored areas; with burros (donkeys) carrying all your belongings, chefs on hand to do all the cooking and guides to show the way, you can simply relax and enjoy the walk through the magnificent scenery.

    Option A (4 days - 3 nights)

Total altitude gain is roughly 6,500 feet, much of which is gained in a 6-7 hour hike the first day. The variation is incredible: you will start in the desert, work your way up through the spiny forests, then on into lush preserves of oak and pine.
When you will reach the pinnacle you'll have a sweeping panorama surrounded by the Sea of Cortez and the Pacific Ocean.
You will have several opportunities to relax and enjoy by rivers and waterfalls, and maybe for a dip. Warm showers will be available after hiking each day.

The guides will prepare all meals, which will include a delightful variety of Mexican dishes - with a certain European flair. Red wine will be available with dinner each evening.

    Option B (2 days - 1 night)

The 2-day/1 night trip is the perfect opportunity to experience the beauty and magic of the Sierras, without committing so much of your valuable vacation time. On day 1 you will be driven into a secluded part of the Sierra de la Laguna Biosphere Reserve and set up camp.
The rest of the day will be spent hiking along a lush riverbed to a beautiful desert waterfall. Throughout the walk you will be surrounded by magnificent flora and fauna.
This is an easy, 4-hour walk with no climbing and just a small amount of walking over boulders. When you will return to camp you can rinse away the efforts of the day with a warm shower, before enjoying a terrific dinner accompanied by delicious Baja wines that your guide will prepare for you. You'll sleep comfortably on air mattresses in a cozy tent.

The next morning you will wake up to a fantastic Mexican breakfast, after which you will be set up for some bird watching, looking for the species that are unique to the area, and enjoy an invigorating hike in the lower foothills of the Sierras. You will be driven back to Todos Santos by 4 pm.
