8 days whale watching cruise in the Sea of Cortez, Baja California Sur
Each year the largest living creatures on earth, the Blue Whales, migrate to Baja's Sea of Cortez. Reaching over 100 feet in length the sheer grandeur of these leviathan will utterly bedazzle you.

You are likely to encounter delightful schools of dolphins and up to six other species of whale - including Humpback, Sperm, Finback, Minke, Pilot and Orca - as you cruise the peaceful waters and enjoy the warm climate of the Sea of Cortez.

You will also enjoy daily land excursions to the remote desert islands that will reveal Galapagos-like diversity and abundance. Watch Heerman's Gulls, Egrets and Red Bill tropic birds nesting or feeding in the mangrove lined estuaries and rocky shorelines. Snorkel and discover fish from brilliantly colored scissor tail damselfish to silverstrip chromis.

One moment you will find yourself in the presence of marine animals bigger and yet more graceful than anything you could ever imagine, the next close enough to photograph the finest details of Brown or Blue-Footed Boobies. An experience to remember for a lifetime.

The cruise will be on the 80' motor vessel DON JOSE, with capacity is 16 passengers in 7 above-deck air conditioned cabins.
Most cabins have a sink, changing area, storage closet, and adjacent shower.
The crew will assist you during the trip, together with a naturalist, providing info about the area and whale watching, and a divemaster for scuba diving expeditions.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Loreto or La Paz, depending on trip date. Transfer to Don Jose.
Day 2-6: Days will be spent looking for and observing Blue Whales as well as other marine life as well as visits to local islands or snorkeling, hiking, bird watching.
Day 7: Transfer to Loreto or La Paz, depending on trip date. Transfer to hotel.
Day 8: Group taxis to airport (if you are leaving Baja)

Other facilities on board are convenient swim step & storage lockers for gear, skiffs to take you ashore or to nearby dive sites, VHS video system and natural history library. Kayaks and Tanks & weights for dive trips are available.
