One day trip from Muleje, Baja California Sur.
This excursion is very interesting, a scenic hike to the cave paintings and cultural tour exploring the local nature, and experiencing how local people work and live. It includes a meal and soft drinks.
Salvador, a Muleje native, has sixteen years of experience as a tour guide in and around Muleje, ans was the first person to offer guided tours to the famous La Trinidad Cave Paintings. He has a massive knowledge of the natural and cultural history of Baja, and speak English fluently.
Your journey to the Canyon will start in front of Hotel Las Casitas on a comfortable and air-conditioned van, and the first stop is a local citrus orchard where many different fruits are cultivated, from oranges to "limones reales".
At the next stop, about halfway to the rock art site, Salvador provides interesting information about plants and animals of the desert. You will learn how to identify some plants, trees and cactus and their medicinal power, plus some history and legends about the Cochimi Indians.
At Rancho Las Tinajitas - a working ranch - you will see and learn how goat cheese is made by hand, the making and use of ropes and lassos and some leather working procedures.
From Rancho La Trinidad you will start hiking up the river and the canyon to the cave paintings, where Salvador will provide you with some historical information about this fascinating sites.
