Bahia de Los Angeles - Boat Tour to the Islands



  • Five hours boat tour to the islands facing Bahia de Los Angeles, Baja California.
    The view over the Bahia de Los Angeles is one of the most spectacular vistas in all of Baja California, especially at sunrise and sunset.


    The landscape is almost irreal, an incredible scenery of mountains turning pink and orange, with the desert meeting the warm waters of the Sea of Cortez.

    One of the best way to enjoy all this is floating on this tranquil blue sea, and reach some of the islands by boat. If you don't mind a bit of hiking and soft climbing to the top of the islands, you will have breathtaking views of the bay, with its amazing hidden beaches and lagoons.

    The tour lasts 5 hours and with a bit of luck you will have pleasant meetings with seals resting on the islands' rocks, whalesharks enjoying the warm waters close to the shore, and even whales and dolphins.
    Some of the islands offer snorkelers amazing view of multicoloured rocks smaller fish and soft corals.

    The tour starts from Campo Archelon, just about 1 km north of town, and it can be customized upon request. Antonio and Bety Resendiz (Marine Biologists and directors of the camp) will suggest you how to make the most of your exploring trip according to the season, the daily weather conditions and your special interests.

    The cost is USD 150 per boat, with a maximum of 6 persons
    (USD 25 per person)


    In the premises of the camp you can visit the Sea Turtle Research Station, cooperating with the Sea Turtle Association of Japan in counting of nestling turtles, turtle tagging surveys, investigations of beached dead turtles, and other activities.

    Antonio and Bety's aim in the past few years has been to protect the region's fisheries and stocks sea turtles as well as of marine mammals and sea birds. Information gathered by the Resendiz family is being used to help guide sea turtle conservation around the world.

    The Sea Turtle Research Station is no longer managed by Antonio, who has now retired, but you can still visit it by contacting the local SEMARNAT office (Secreteria de Medio Ambiente y Recursos Naturales). However, Antonio remains one of the most authoritative voices about turtle protecion programs in the region, and he will be pleased to give you some more information about it.
