Costa Maya in the state of Quintana Roo is part of the region known as the Mundo Maya or Maya World. Please note that driving to Maya Luna from Cancun will take between 4 and 5 hours. We absolutely recommend not to drive in the dark, therefore if you land in Cancun in the afternoon, consider spending the first night in Playa del Carmen or Tulum. (During winter it gets dark around 5 pm)

Getting there from Cancun airport: By car: Drive south in direction of Chetumal on highway 307 for 290 km, and just south of the village of Limones turn left for a half hour drive through the mangrove swamps to Mahahual. After 50 km you will find a militar post, keep driving straight on for another 5 km (make sure you do not take the left turn to Xcalak). Arriving at the Caribbean sea in Mahahual, take the seaside, sandy road to Xcalak. After 5 km you pass a little bridge over the “Bamejo river”. Approaching the curve just after the bridge you can already see Hotel Maya Luna. By bus: Take the Maya bus to Limones (approx. 3.5 - 4 hours). There, take the Carribe bus to Mahahual (approx. 1.5 hours). The bus stops just in front of our hotel (ask the driver to stop there). Or take a cab from Limones to Mahahual (about USD 25.00).
