Posada Arigalan is located on the southern coast of Mexico in the state of Oaxaca, between the villages of Mazunte and San Agustinillo.

It lies on the top of a hill, overlooking two beautiful beaches: Playa Mazunte and Playa San Agustinillo.

The posada offers several accommodation choices: you can choose between suites and basic rooms with or without A/C , double or king-size beds, ceiling fans and private bathroom. Hot water, however, is not offered in any unit.

Each room has a large viewing entrance with breathtaking ocean views, private terrazas or common patios. All units are non smoking.

The climate is hot, sub-tropical, with an average of 82 degrees. It is a paradise for those who love sunbathing, swimming, and enjoying the real beach life in total peace and tranquillity.

The closest village is San Agustinillo - just 5 minutes walking distance - with its sleepy life and slow rhythm, able to cure any sort of stress. Here you will experience the unique mexican hospitality, delicious food and the interesting culture of the old Zapotec Indians, whose ancient dialect is still spoken among the local residents.
The same name 'Arigalan' comes from there: 'Ari' meaning water and 'Galan' beautiful.

There are several restaurants serving local specialties, and home cooked meals can also be delivered at the posada with prior arrangements.

In the village of Mazunte you can visit one of the most important Marine Turtle Centers of Mexico (Centro Mexicano de la Tortuga), where efforts are being made to protect and reestabilish the local turtle population, after years of wild hunting and illegal turtle egg trade, which brought to the imminent extinction of many species.

Another interesting ecotourism destination is Ventanilla - just in the outskirts of Mazunte - an ecological refuge and controlled breeding grounds for crocodiles, where you can join interesting nature and bird watching tours.

If you get a bit tired of peace and relax, you can reach popular destinations like Bahias de Huatulco, Puerto Escondido, and Puerto Angel in just about 30 minutes driving. There you can enjoy surfing, shopping, water sports, and a vibrant night life.
