The Majestic Hotel in Mexico City joins the National Palace and the Cathedral as part of a group of historical buildings that share a central and unique area in the city's main square, called The Zocalo.
The hotel features an amazing architecture: it is a seven story building from the beginning of the century, with Barroque decorative elements and stone work, carved wood, bronze and 'talavera' of Puebla mix in a unique way. The roof-top terrace (open from 7 am to midnight) offers great views over the Zocalo, providing also the perfect spot for seeing the change of National Guard and the raise of the gigantic Mexican flag, which takes place at 6 am every morning.
A rich buffet breakfast and lunch are served in the terrace, and on weekends also a typical buffet luncheon with live Mariachi music from 1 to 5 pm.
Next to the restaurant there is the Campanario Bar, open every day from noon to 2am. Live entertainment is offered Monday through Saturday from 7.30 pm
The hotel features also a cafe` directly on the Zocalo, offering coffees, drinks, and light snacks.
Bedrooms face either the Zocalo (these have great views but can be quite noisy) or the Calle Madero (a bit quieter) or the inner courtyard.
However, the Zocalo is a very vibrant place at any time of the day and night, therefore if your priority is a quiet night sleep you should specify it at the moment of the reservation.
Rooms are equippend with Cable TV, radio, hairdryers and a minibar. There are also spacious suites with king bed and separate living areas.
