CocoCabanas   •   Central Pacific Coast

CocoCabanas are elegantly rustic solar powered beachside bungalows located on Mexico's stunning Central Pacific Coast, also know as the Costa Alegre (Happy Coast).

The bungalows are situated directly on the pristine Playa de los Cocos (Coconut Beach) and one of the world's largest palm and banana groves on the Isla de Navidad peninsula. Just across the lagoon is the world famous tourist and artisan town of Barra de Navidad.

More like a bed and breakfast than a large hotel or resort, and the perfect juxtaposition of rustic style and solar technology, CocoCabanas is the answer for those seeking comfortable, elegant and off the beaten path accommodation on the Central Mexican Pacific Coast.

An impressive solar power system gives the entire inn a more than adequate supply of electricity and hot water.
A strong breeze from the beach helps keep the cabanas cool day and night for a peaceful and hypnotic night's slumber to the music of ocean waves.

Cabanas will accommodate four persons comfortably, and an additional mattress may be requested to accommodate up to six guests.
Rooms are equipped with power outlets and Internet and phone service is available in the bar restaurant area.

The palapa bar and restaurant offers ice-cold tropical drinks, fresh savory seafood and mouth watering Mexican cuisine.
Breakfast is included in the rate and can also be served in bed.
A snack menu with treats such as guacamole, ceviche, shrimp cocktails and sandwiches is available throughout the day. Choices of three dishes are served for lunch and dinner.
Prices range approximately from USD 6 to 12 a plate per person.

After dinner enjoy a moonlit walk on the beach, an oceanside fire, a nighttime swim and good times under the stars at Pachangas Mar Bar.

The beach is open ocean, with tremendous blue, green, and turquoise waves that sometimes reach up to a staggering 15 ft in height.
Playa de los Cocos is a natural habitat for endangered sea turtles that come ashore and lay eggs (generally in the fall and winter months).

Dolphins and whales may also be spotted during migration periods. Many exotic birds such as egrets, roseate spoonbills and yellow tailed caciques reside in the immediate area. Tropical flora also abounds in the zone.

Within a short bike ride, one will come upon immense palm, banana and mango groves. Plum trees, blue agave fields, watermelon patches and chili plantations dot the landscape of the Isla de Navidad peninsula.

In order to provide easy access to and from Barra de Navidad, CocoCabanas maintains an armada of bicycles, which may be used by guests for just a small maintenance fee to explore the peninsula or travel to and from town via Colimilla.
The bike ride to the dock in Colimilla is 2.8 miles-4.5 km and takes around fifteen minutes.

In Barra de Navidad you can find a variety of shopping and nightlife fun, and check out the wide range of activities such as bike tours, surfing, bird watching, sea kayaking, sports fishing, snorkeling, golf, or boat tours to other beautiful nearby beaches.

CocoCabanas is also in contact with several of the local language schools, so that you can also decide to make the most of your Mexican vacation learning Spanish, or even teaching English!!

Want to have CocoCabanas all to yourself? Imagine you and up to 20 other people with your own village of cabanas on a quiet out of the way beach, a large palapa bar with kitchen and pool right smack on the ocean!
