Meson de los Poetas is a comfortable hotel located in a big colonial house right in the cultural heart of Guanajuato.
It owes its name to a couple of local poets, who have started this venture in the hospitality business and given the place its artistic touch and design.
Unique for its colonial architecture and Mexican decoration, this big house is a little town within the town, with shaded patios and balconies, coloured tiles and beautiful staircases.
The place is ideal for relaxing and finding some artistic inspiration; each of the 30 rooms is named after a famous poet, and features a unique decor with a few elements paying tribute the artist: you can choose the Walt Withman, the Octavio Paz or the Pablo Neruda suites amongst many others.
Other features include phone, TV, table and sofa, and some rooms also have a fully equipped kitchen, ideal for longer stays.
You will love sitting for a drink or a read in the patio, where art events often take place, and where coffee and tea are served all day long.
An exposition room always displays paintings and sculptures by local artists.
Please note that the house has no lift, and the access to all rooms is through flights of stairs. It is possible to allocate a room on the lower floor upon request, subject to availability.
The hotel is in the historical centre of Guanajuato, about 20 minutes from the main bus station.
