Los Colibris   •   Baja California

Los Colibris (The Hummingbirds) is in one of the most beautiful spots in Todos Santos, Colonia La Poza. It has amazing views of the Pacific ocean, a freshwater estuary and a palm grove oasis to the front, and the Sierra de la Laguna mountains to the side and back.

The lodge is just a 10-minute walk to 70 miles of pristine beach, and a 5-minute drive to the restaurants, artists' galleries and shops of Todos Santos.

You will be accommodated in one of the three guest rooms: El Picacho, El Misho and La Chucha. Each room features a balcony or porch, and either a king bed or two twin beds with beautiful Mexican bedspreads and comfortable soft linens.

All rooms have a hummingbird feeder, wireless internet access, safe, hairdryer, ceiling fan, air-conditioning, coffee-maker, drink-filled refrigerator, bottled water and CD player/alarm clock.

Room service is available for breakfast each morning, and your hosts are not averse to whipping up a pitcher of margaritas for sunset viewing in the late afternoon.

Los Colibris manages also a charming house Casa Colina - just a few yards away that is available for rent most months of the year, and it is perfect if you have a larger group and need more space, or simply want to enjoy the comfort of a house during your vacation.

The house features 2 bedrooms with king bed, 2 balconies, ceiling fan and a full bath.
Both bedrooms have large windows facing the beach and the Pacific, while the mountains can be viewed from the balconies and porches.
The kitchen id equipped with with refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, blender, pots, pans, dishes and cutlery and has great views of the ocean.
A strategically placed window makes it easy to serve dinner on the front porch. There are dining tables and chairs for both inside and outside dining.
The living room opens onto the front and side porches, ideal places for morning coffees, afternoon siestas, sunset drinks and starlit dinners.

There are beautiful walks to enjoy around Los Colibris, like the 10-minute walk to Playa La Poza. The beach is virtually empty on most days and you can stroll for miles without seeing another person. In January, February and March there are often whales swimming, breaching and spy-hopping just a few yards off the shore.
The beach walk skirts along the freshwater estuary which features a fantastic array of bird life including pelicans, herons, egrets, gulls, frigatebirds, ibis, ducks, cormorants, sandpipers, stilts and many, many more.

Another walk through the rolling hills behind Los Colibris takes you through the fantastic desert landscape down to the beach, and offers views of the Sierra de la Laguna mountains, Punta Lobos and its sweeping beach, and the lush grasses and majestic palms of the freshwater estuary. In addition to a wide range of cactus and desert plants, you can see jackrabbits, chipmunks, roadrunners, quails, owls, hawks, hummingbirds, orioles, gnatcatchers, flycatchers and doves.

The Palm Grove walk is marked by a swath of lush palms following the water flow off the mountains. This walk takes you out to the sea turtle hatchery on Playa La Poza. You might get lucky enough to see the conservationists releasing the newly-hatched turtles into the sea!
