Campo Archelon   •   Baja California

Bahia de Los Angeles is a small little fishing town nestled behind an imposing mountain and lying on the Sea of Cortez. The bay contains a handful of islands, scattered in the calm sea.

As you enter town you will notice a dirt road going East and then immediately North: it is signed for Daggett's. In less than 1 km the road goes to the beach, to Brisa Marina.

You will reach Campo Archelon, run by Antonio Resendiz, one of the main proponents behind the town's mantra of low impact tourism.

He devoted most of his life to saving Sea Turtles, and runs the Centro Regional de Investigacion Pesquera (CRIP) Sea Turtle Research Station. He also built a few Palapas (beach huts) which he rents out to tourists who are interested in conserve and help out nature, and are aware of endangered animals and try to protect them.

Campo Archelon is a sort of 'primitive camping on the beach', but offers enough comforts to its guests, who can be accommodated in either stone walled and grass thatched bungalows (for 2, 4 or 6 persons) or in the simple palapa huts aligned to the sea shore, and have use of hot water showers and clean toilet facilities (facilities are shared).

The Camp has also room for RV and Vans.

Antonio organizes tour to the islands, fishing tours, and other excursions. He will be happy to suggest you how to make the most of your exploring trip in Bahia according to the season, the daily weather conditions and your special interests.
