16th Catemaco, Veracruz - Day of Our Lady or Carmen

Ciudad del Carmen (Campeche) holds a livestock fair, sports and boating events.
In Mexico City celebrations are held in the neighbourhood of San Angel, together with the "Fair of the Flowers", which has pre-Hispanic origin. Here the people honoured the God Xiuhtecuitl or "Gentleman of the Flowers" to give thanks for his protection during the harvest.

21st and 28th 2008 Oaxaca - The Guelaguetza or Lunes del Cerro
A Zapotec word signifying offering, Guelaguetza was the term used to describe the ceremony and celebration held each year to ask the gods for sufficient rain and a bountiful harvest.
This is undoubtedly the most important fiesta in the state, linked to the agricultural cycle and dedicated to the corn goddess Centeotl. Representations of the ethnic groups from all the seven regions of the state gather in Oaxaca and perform offering rites in honour of Centeotl with music and native dances in traditional costume. These celebrations take place on the Cerro del Fortín, where in 1974 an amphitheatre seating about 11,000 was built to accommodate this major event.
It is impossible to adequately describe the heart-stirring beauty of this spectacle in its jewel setting - the music, the colour, the vivacity of the participants spellbinds the audience until the final Feather Dance (Danza de la Pluma). A number of connected events take place during these two weeks, such as the contest to select the goddess Centeotl the Sunday before the start of the festival. The goddess is chosen from among the candidates who are sent by each delegation on the basis of her knowledge of her area's history, customs and traditions.
This event is really worth a stop in Oaxaca, even though the city is very crowded in this period, and booking your accommodation in advance is highly recommended.

Last two weeks, Morelia - The International Music Festival
This gorgeous city capital of the state of Michoacan is synonymous with music and is home to this important festival. A wide array of concerts take place throughout the city with special performances by Morelia’s own symphony. The festival also features art exhibitions and seminars, and attracts outstanding performers of classical and contemporary music.
