Fair
In Cuernavaca a magnificent flower festival attracts many tourists
with exhibitions of model gardens, competitions in floriculture
and gardening. The whole city is an enchanting bouquet of smells
and colours, especially around the Jardin Borda, the city's most
beautiful park which was once the summer residence of Emperor Maximilian
and Carlota of Augsburg. The festival is highlighted with sound
and light shows and the appearance of popular entertainers.
12th until the first week of May Aguascalientes - San Marcos
Fair
This three week fair dates back to the beginning of the 17th century,
to the settlement of the Indian village of San Marcos and it takes
place in a plaza with a beautiful central fountain and surrounded
by Neoclassical balustrades. Celebrations include games, music and
dancing, with folkloric performers and mariachi bands, matadors
in the bullring and cockfighting. Many stalls are set up for traditional
food and wine tasting.
30th Rosarito, Baja California - Rosarito to Ensenada Bike
Ride
A 50 mile fun bike ride along the coast of northern Baja, where
10,000 people converge in order to participate in a bicycle race,
and/or drink. Actually, there are two ways to approach the event:
one is to load up a bicycle and actually participate; the second
is to load up the cooler and just party. Either way, it's a rewarding
weekend for all those who take part. The bike race is 50 miles in
length, travelling from the beachside town of Rosarito, where the
movie "Titanic" was filmed, to the port city of Ensenada.
It's not an easy ride and takes between 3-4 hours to complete.
30th Children’s Day (Día del Niño)
Children are honoured with parties and gifts.
