Sustainable
tourism itself is a good way of helping the local communities; but for
those of you who are interested in knowing more about some non profit organisations
operating in the Mexican territory to help alleviate some of the poverty
and under-development in Mexico, here is some information about a few of
them that we got in touch with during our travels…
A general knowledge of who and where they are, and what they are doing might be of interest to you. Knowing about these organisation helps develop a deeper understanding of Mexico's local culture and problems.
You may wish to pay them a visit during your journey in Mexico, or you may even help to sustain them from home or on the spot, as many of them organize and promote volunteering programs.
